Brief History and Introduction
The West Medical Unit is headed by Professor Tahira Murtaza Cheema. This unit has monitoring facilities for cardiac patients as well as non invasive diagnostic. West Medical Ward comprises of 60-bedded male and female wards and ICU. West Medical Ward provides both indoor and outdoor patient facilities (twice a week Monday & Friday) and attends accident and emergency department 36 hours a week and every fourth Sunday. The ward also provide consultant opinion to the patients of distant part of the province on every Friday and Ist & 3rd Monday of every month through telemedicine. The ward also provides medical facilities to the flood affected areas of the province. The ward has also facility of Esophagoscopy, Gastroscopy, Deudonoscopy, Colonoscopy and Bronchoscopy. The ward has its on ventilators. The ward has sits on I.C.U. of six beds where patient requiring critical care are being looked after. Prof. Tahira Murtaza Cheema with her team is enthusiastically training undergraduates and postgraduates students. She is also responsible for the training of Family Physicians according to requirements of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.
