Brief
History & Introduction
Mayo
Hospital is the affiliated teaching hospital of
King Edward Medical University. Before January,
2006, there was one unit of Pediatric Medicine.
The second unit of Paediatric medicine was approved
from January, 2006, to provide better services
to the patients coming to this tertiary care hospital.
With
the increase in the number of students enrolled
in each batch of the MBBS classes, the was a need
to have more units and hence, teachers to teach
the undergraduates students. This is in accordance
with the requirement of Student – teacher
ratio prescribed by PMDC.
This
is A newly created unit and shares emergencies,
out patients & fellow up with Unit I, on alternative
days, the unit consist of a 20 bedded neonatal
section, and an 8 bedded intensive care unit.
60 beds have been allocated for General Paediatric
and sub specialties.
