The department moved into its present premises in 1981. This building project was initiated in 1978 with a generous donation of 10 lacs rupees by the late Professor Ameer ud din Professor Emeritus for starting a Paediatric Surgical Unit at King Edward Medical College / Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
The Department has 102 Paediatric Surgical beds including 24 beds for burn patients, 10 beds for intensive care and 12 beds of Surgical Neonatology, Neonatology is equipped with incubators, baby therm, a ventilator and other monitoring facilities. Subsequently another block has been added to the main building. The construction of this block started in 1992 and was completed in 1996. It houses two operation theatres, ICU, Nursery and emergency ward. There is central supply of gases and suction in this building. In 1995 a lift was installed in the main block.
