Research Center

Being Director Research KEMU, Prof. Muhammad Arshad Cheema has established the Research Center of KEMU to:

1. Coordinate the ongoing research projects

2. Facilitate formulation of future research projects, and help secure funding

3. Help the researchers in preparing their manuscripts for publication.

4. To help the researchers to attend national and international meetings to present their research work and funding their traveling and accommodation arrangements.

We have compiled a book on the research published in national and international journals during the last 5 years by faculty members as well as currently on going research projects.

We have arranged a one day workshop on Medical Research and Good Clinical Practice on Saturday, March 8, 2008 in the Auditorium of King Edward Medical University.

Trauma Courses:

It is a well known fact that Accidents and Violence are the number 1 cause of death in people under age 45 in this country like rest of the world. Many of these deaths are preventable if adequate treatment is provided in a timely fashion during the first hour after injury. In order to provide awareness of this situation the Department of Surgery has arranged 20 Trauma Courses until October 2009. We have trained more than 1000 surgeons throughout the country so far.

This Course focuses on the first hour after injury which is termed as “the golden hour”. This golden hour provides the golden opportunity to save the life and the life long disability. The best way to strengthen the emergency services in the country is for department of health to regularly arrange such trauma courses for doctors manning the emergency department. Development of well trained human resource is as important as construction of “brick & mortar trauma centers”.
